Six days to go, welcome to the countdown!

Game Players, my new book, will be launched in seven days, and I am posting every day over the next few days, giving you a little insight into my main character. I hope you will love this ‘character’ as much as I did when I was writing the book.

The lead character in Game Players is a group of six children, and in the run up to publication of this book, I have decided to introduce you to all of them. Collectively they are known as the Gang of Six. All that you need to know initially is that they built a den in the woods, they wear whistles around their necks, each child having their own distinctive whistle call, and they have each other’s backs. Always.

They are not the Famous Five or the Secret Seven, they are the Gang of Six, and they have imperfections. They hide the truth. From adults.

The leader of the group, elected by a democratic vote of putting their thumbs up, is eleven-year-old Mark Brownlow. He lives with his parents John and Sally Brownlow, his twin brother Dominic, and his younger sister, Freya.

Mark is identical to Dom, and they must wear badges at school so that teachers can identify them. They have been known to swap badges, just because they can. They have dark blonde hair, blue-grey eyes and straight noses, handsome young men.

Mark is the outgoing one of the two brothers, the one who thinks things through, the one who acquiesces to his brother for a less stressful life, but everyone wanted Mark for leader. He is caring, as is everyone in this unique gang, and although he is happy to be moving to the bigger school after the long summer break, he is not too happy at leaving his sister behind at the junior school.

All members of the gang readily identify which brother is which, and if they lie and swap identities for any reason, the rest of the children stay quiet.

Best-selling author, Anita Waller, is back with a twisting, suspenseful and fast-paced read, perfect for fans of domestic noir.

When a gang of six children playing in their den in the woods spot a man burying drugs nearby, it marks the beginning of the end of their childhoods.

Unsure what to do, the children dig up the drugs and take them away. But when the dealer, who they watched bury the stash, shows up dead, the youngsters are thrown into turmoil.

Scared of what might happen, the children tell the police about the body they have discovered.

Meanwhile, a group of gangsters start searching for their missing drugs.

Soon the children and their families become the target of the vicious criminals who will stop at nothing to retrieve their narcotics…
